Sparklabs Group will start a cybersecurity and blockchain program in the U.S. as it already runs accelerator programs in the Asia-Pacific region.The cybersecurity and the blockchain program will take place in the capital, Washington, D.C. from 2019.  

Two seasoned entrepreneurs, ex-managing director of the Brandery accelerator and Brian Park, former COO of Startup Grind will lead the program.

The people who will work with the batch of companies include Ray Ozzie (former chief software architect at Microsoft), Charlie Lee (Litecoin founder), Eric Ly (co-founder of LinkedIn) and, Rich DeMillo, HP’s first CTO.

The program is dubbed as “Sparklabs Cybersecurity plus blockchain”.It will start in March 2019 with an inaugural batch of companies.From January, companies can start submitting their applications for the program.According to Sparklabs, the company plans to run the program for a period of four months with two intakes a year.

Sparklabs will offer $50,000 for the selected companies as a standard investment approach.

The company’s dedicated blockchain fund, SparkChain Capital doesn’t fund nor its principal, Joyce Kim, founder of Stellar is directly involved in the accelerator.

Apart from the funding capital, SparkChain has a lab for Crypto in Asia, especially in Korea, where it operated its first accelerator program. The company’s two of the accelerators are in Korea’s Songdo city (IOT focused initiative) and in Australia (Cultvi accelerator program for agro and food) are being tokenized.
