Nintendo Is Shutting Down Netflix and All Other Video Streaming For Wii in January Next Year
The Silicon Review
13 November, 2018

If you own a Nintendo Wii not only to play games but also for binging Netflix or other video streaming services, then we have a bad news for you all.

Recently, the American media-services king, Netflix has emailed its users regarding the fact that Nintendo is going to shut down Netflix for Wii after 31st January 2019. That presumably means that Amazon Prime and Hulu will also be taken off by the Japanese video game company. It’s sad but now the users will have to find alternative options.

The mail by Netflix that notified its users:

“Unfortunately, Nintendo will suspend all video streaming services on Wii including the Netflix after January 31, 2019. We hope you all soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device. Please visit netflix.com/Wii for our device list.”

Even though the news of the closing of streaming services is a blow to Wii owners, people already had a gist about the news when Nintendo announced that it is going to shut the Wii Shop Channel, its portal to download virtual console games in January.

The bottom line is, Wii is getting old and this makes sense to an extent. So, let’s not be sad anymore about this. Rather, enjoy the services till it’s there.
