Ten One Design Launches a New WiFi Porter

Ten One Design Launches a New WiFi Porter
The Silicon Review
22 January, 2019

Apple’s accessory maker Ten One Design has rolled out a new WiFi porter, a small wooden NFC tag. The new development allows users to enable guests to connect their devices to the user’s WiFi network without entering any password or SSID.

The new WiFi porter is supported by both Android devices and iPhones. The iPhone models which are older than 2018 will not be accessible to the NFC function and will have to use the QR scan facility to get connected to the porter.

The users will need to set up a password to install the WiFi porter although their guests won’t need one. The first time users will be directed to a link to download the app by tapping their phones against the puck. After downloading, the users will have to open the app and tap their phones against the porter. Once the process is completed, they can choose their desired WiFi networks or connect to a recent network. To confirm the settings, users must tap once again towards it.

The WiFi porter doesn’t come with any battery, since NFC tags are unpowered, and hence it will be operational until the phone is connected to NFC and QR scanners.

The company will sell two different versions of the WiFi Porter. The first model is the standard model and the second one is the limited version with a leather finish. The new device is out for pre-orders with a price tag of r $39.95 and $59.95, respectively.
