MCU Announces the Presence of LGBTQ+ Character in The Eternals
The Silicon Review
28 August, 2019

Days after the Marvel Cinematic Universe announced the shocking news of the removal of Spiderman from its series, they dropped yet another bomb. In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed the existence of a gay character in its upcoming 2020 movie, The Eternals. This revelation means that there will now be two characters from the LGBTQ+ community in the Marvel Universe. It also means that this anonymous character will beat Valkyrie from Thor 4 as the first LGBTQ+ entity from the Marvel Universe to make it on the big screen.

“He’s married. He’s got a family. And that is just part of who he is,” was all Kevin Feige had to say about this mysterious character. This statement has caused many fans to speculate about the new manifestation. Some theories state that this might be one of the major characters as he seems to be having a backstory and family. With this announcement, President Feige seems to be fulfilling his promise of providing more diversity across the sexuality sphere in his films. With movies like The Black Widow, Thor: Love and War and The Eternals, the fourth phase of MCU comes with promise of diversity.

With all the attempts to cause awareness for the LGBTQ+ community, this endorsement by the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be just the right thing!
