Amazon’s focus shifts on cloud hardware to outrun Microsoft and Google
The Silicon Review

Amazon has taken a step ahead to focus more on its Cloud hardware services to outrun companies like IBM, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Dell Technologies as well as cloud rival Microsoft Corp. Amazon rocked the cloud market for data center systems by joining it. Amazon Web Services team is all set to join the server machines in the cloud technology.

In a recent statement, Amazon’s cloud arm reported $32 Billion in revenue for its last four quarters; becoming one of the top leaders in the global market for cloud software and services and enough to rank in the division among the world’s largest software companies. Analysts estimate that AWS’s market which in the cloud sector as well as in the infrastructure software domain including data storage and networking is at least twice as large as that of Microsoft, its nearest competitor.

Amazon’s cloud arm reported $32 billion in revenue for its four latest quarters, a big slice of the $227 billion global markets for cloud software and services and enough to rank the division among the world’s largest software companies. Analysts estimate that AWS’s market share in infrastructure software for tasks like data storage and networking is at least twice as large as that of Microsoft, its nearest competitor.

The “hybrid cloud” technology helps to use cloud services for some stuff, nearby for mission-critical data and a common interface for everything. A push into this world by Amazon, which used to give ceremonial hammers to startup clients to smash their on-site servers, is a little like Apple Inc, but Amazon’s move will definitely be a bigger and better one.
