Envisioning a New Relationship between Humans, Machines and Nature with New Smart Car

A luxury automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has rolled out a new car inspired by the Avatar movie, the concept vehicle Mercedes Benz Vision AVTR, which provides a far-reaching look at the company's products in terms of design, materials and innovations. Motivated by the James Cameron film Avatar, the new car has been built reflecting a sustainable vision of zero-emission mobility. Vision AVTR is a fully-electric, AWD, 4-seat concept that features a 110-kWh battery and a 700-km range and is M-B's idea of a sustainable luxury form of electromobility. The VISION AVTR idea uses 100 percent recyclable organic battery technology. This harnesses a variety of artificial intelligence to improve vehicle performance and productivity, including integrated solar panels designed to power back.

The Avatar team of James Cameron worked with the M-B engineering team on the concept of spurging new forms of car interaction. AVTR welcomes the Mercedes-Benz engineers, designers, and development analysts' future vision of mobility for the distant future. The VISION AVTR practices what M-B calls a holistic concept that combines styling through the combination of interior, exterior and user experience design elements, a design framework specified inside out. Inspired by various creatures from the movie Avatar, its stretched 'One Bow' organic design apparently offers some intense insight into M-B's future design language.

There is no steering wheel in the car, where the tiller in the center console is replaced by a multifunctional control feature. To get the car started, owners must place their hands on the control unit. Through their pulse and respiratory pattern the new car will recognize its driver. A dash transformed into a curved display module is used to display info and connect customers to the outside world. The VISION AVTR conceptuses a battery that illustrates graphene-based organic cell chemistry that is free of rare earth components and metals. The battery components are compostable and even recyclable, thereby freeing them from fossil fuels and linking the car to a part of the circular economy. That sustainable vision elongates to the interior, using M-B's vegan Dinamica leather, and the AVTR's floor is concealed with a fast-growing rattan called Karuun, harvested by hand.
