IBM to use Artificial Intelligence to predict symptoms of Huntington’s disease

IBM is using its artificial intelligence health prediction platform in order to predict early symptoms and tackle the challenge of Huntington’s disease. The tech giant has confirmed that it is teamed up with the CHDI foundation on an AI model that will predict when patients will have Huntington’s symptoms and will help in the rapid analysis of those symptoms. The team will be using MRI brain scans to treat scans to train the AI, using signals from the white matter of the brain, which will help to capture the cognitive and motor nerve performance.

The current methods which are used to understand the disease only indicate the symptoms which tend to materialize between the ages of 30 and 50, but not how they evolve. But researchers of CHDI foundation and engineers at IBM are optimistic that the new AI tool can even give a clear idea about the evolution of the disease.

The researchers are optimistic that these signals from the MRI could help them to produce more accurate results and estimates of functional drugs. It also will help them to better the treatment and will help the scientists to choose candidates for clinical trials based on the states of their conditions, which in turn can lead to long-term solutions.
