Microsoft is getting Developers to test the dual screen feature in Surface Duo and Surface neo
The Silicon Review
23 January, 2020

Last October Microsoft unveiled Surface Duo which is a surface phone running on android OS. Recently there was an announcement from Microsoft in which they shared more info on the device and how the apps will work on dual-screen devices like Surface Neo and Surface Duo. While the Surface duo runs on android, the Surface Neo works on Windows 10X. Microsoft is currently getting developers for testing the apps that will work on both the devices. Apps will work on one screen in default and Microsoft reported that the users can span the apps on both the display while they are in double landscape or portrait mode. The company has a foreview on how the developers will test the apps in different ways to make use of both the screens. Some of the predictions include simply making use of both the screens as an extended canvas or reading a two-page document by using the second screen as a companion.

Microsoft has initial app pattern ideas and the company stated that the patterns will improve when they receive feedback from the developers. The company recently released an android emulator for Surface Duo and this will allow the developers in testing mobile applications. The android emulator will support android apps by default and the company is looking forward to launching new web standards for the new dual-screen layout.
