Vertical Housing is the New Real Estate Trend in Merida, Mexico

“As a result of the constant arrival of families from Central and Northern Mexico to state capital, the demand for vertical constructions increases in Mérida”, said the president of the Yucatecan delegation of the National Chamber of Housing Developers (Canadevi), Eduardo AnconaCámara, stressing on the importance of promoting this type of real estate to prevent the loss of the quality of life of the Yucatecan capital.

How pointed that the Aleman and Garcia Gineres colonies would be featuring vertical growth in the future taking into consideration the characteristics of these two colonies.

Eduardo stressed that both the areas are well planned subdivisions in Merida modelled with parks and wide streets and avenues.

“Those colonies could be turning in the new La Condesa, or Del Valle, with vertical constructions, offering citizens a better quality of life, “he said. Eduardo has also stated that due to the prevailing conditions in the Yucatecan capital like security, thousands of people migrate there annually to live there. Given these circumstances, vertical housing is increasingly in demand. He guaranteed that the offers already exist in the area. New families tend to move away from the places where they previously lived and many housing areas are abandoned which is what is happening at Merida. Santiago Apostol and Santa Ana are very much in demand right now especially by retirees from the US.

“You have to make a multi-million dollar investment in certain areas, but it is real, it has been done in many cities, in the Historic Center there are many houses that foreigners are rescuing, but that does not make the necessary density, you have to make serious re-densification investments ” AnconaCámara abounded.
