Recently, the Every Can Counts initiative released a survey according to which it was revealed that Europe must improve its infrastructure and educate the customers about the importance of recycling. The survey was a product of collaboration between Every Can Counts and LUCID polling agency. It was shown in the report that almost 93 percent of the respondents wanted to see more recycling bins placed in public places, streets, beaches, parks, and trails. As mentioned earlier, this figure rises to 94 percent when there are large events like sporting events or festivals, and 90 percent of the respondents insisted that these events must only use recyclable products. These findings reveal that there is a barrier to successful recycling, and there is clear confusion regarding the same.

People are very interested in recycling, but they lack the proper knowledge to execute the same. Lack of public awareness is holding back the people from acting. Respondents admitted that they are not aware of what happens when the recyclables leave their sight, and they don’t know how much of the wastes actually get recycled. Respondents also stated that they are not well-informed and they are interested to learn more. Recyclability is playing an important role in consumer behavior, and the survey has revealed that almost 54 percent of the people prefer to purchase drinks in containers that can be easily recycled.
