It must not be a surprising fact that streaming services managed to witness a huge surge in subscribers and viewership in 2020. YouTube has recently made an announcement that 2020 has been one of the biggest years for the YouTube Gaming segment, and it has recorded 100 hours of watch time hours, and it has more than 40 million gaming channels. Minecraft was reported to be the most-watched game on YouTube, and it has managed to garner more than 201 billion views. Second in rank was Roblox with more than 75 billion views, followed by the popular Battle Royale game Free Fire with over 72 billion views. Fan-favorite GTA V has managed to get 70 billion views while Fortnite had just over 67 billion views.

On YouTube Gaming, live streams also got over 10 billion watch hours, and among all the games that made the cut, Minecraft managed to capture the first place. The year 2020 proved to be the biggest even for the gaming creators’ community. More than 80,000 creators managed to hit the 100k mark, and over 1000 creators have reached the 5 million subscribers mark. Dream, a popular Minecraft content creator, reached the 13 million mark in October, while his channel had just 1 million subscribers in January 2020.
