UK-based resource charity WRAP launches take-back guide for retailers

UK-based resource charity WRAP launches take-back guide for retailers
The Silicon Review
18 Febuary, 2021

UK-based WRAP, one of the resource waste recycling charities, has launched a best-practice guide for fashion retailers. The guide has information on how to deliver effective take-back schemes for the post based on consumer clothing. It also sheds light on the importance and need of waste recycling in the fashion and clothing sector.

The charity also has decided to reinvent the in-store take-back schemes. It expects it to undergo a renaissance post-lockdown, as many people are storing unwanted items at home until restrictions are lifted. The take-back guide will also give information about in-store products that will effectively deliver a retailer-led collective scheme for post-consumer clothes.

However, WRAP stated that many fashion retail consumers are currently unaware of the take-back schemes. The data shows that only two percent chose the take-back route to donate their unwanted clothes. WRAP also said that the research suggests that UK citizens are set to dispose of 67 million clothing items as the UK comes out of lockdown. To overcome this, the charity has stated that it will work with the government to bring awareness about recycling and waste management in such places.
