UK’s information commissioner launches new data analytics toolkit for organizations
The Silicon Review
01 March, 2021

The United Kingdom's Information Commissioner (ICO) has launched a new data analytics toolkit for companies and businesses planning to use personal data and data analytics as part of its priority work on artificial intelligence. This toolkit will outline some important personal data protection considerations for businesses and involve personal data processing as per the ICO's guidance on AI and data protection.

The ICO has stated that the toolkit will help organizations identify some of the most significant risks and protect privacy rights and freedoms. It will also limit personal data analytics, and it will be more helpful at the start of any data analytics project. It will resolve the data-related issues with the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning.  It will be able to perform tasks usually requiring human intelligence.

The data analytics toolkit starts by posing various questions related to the lawfulness, accountability, governance, data principles, and data subjects. It will also generate a report based on this interaction which includes tailored advice concerning the organization's data analytics project. The ICO added that the toolkit is anonymous. The answers given will not be saved or visible to the ICO; therefore, they asked the organizations to copy the report for future reference.
