Clipchamp was founded back in 2013 and it focused on giving people a tool to edit and create videos

Tech giant Microsoft is all set to acquire popular online video editing tool provider Clipchamp. The company has dropped hints that the solutions provided by Clipchamp are ideal for it. Clipchamp was founded back in 2013 and is focused on giving people a tool to edit and create videos from their browser and make use of a GPU to render the output. As per various sources, Microsoft has acquired Clipchamp to integrate its solution into the Microsoft 365 offerings.

Chris Pratley, Corporate VP of Microsoft, has stated that the latest acquisition is aimed at integrating the solution into Microsoft’s 365 offerings because it is a natural fit. He furthermore added that the solution would greatly help families, individuals, businesses, and schools. Tipsters are hinting that the Clipchamp solution might come with Windows, too, as Chris mentioned that it would perfectly fit with Windows. As of now, the solution from Clipchamp exists as an app on the store, and it is a well-known fact that the existing video editing apps of Microsoft are very mediocre. Windows might focus on improving this situation by integrating Clipchamp in a future release. The addition of Clipchamp to its arsenal will serve as a great boost for Microsoft 365 offerings.
