Porsche Turns its 718 Lineup to Fully Electric Sports Car
The Silicon Review
23 September, 2021

Porsche 718 will be a fully electric sports car, and it will hit the US auto market by 2025

Porsche, the most renowned German automaker which manufactures high-performance sports cars, SUVs, and sedans, is now going to turn its 718 lineups into a fully electric sports car. And the company will fundamentally be detached from the 911 and also will retain its most powerful combustion engine beyond 2030 and will not become hybridized.

However, the company will continue to sell 718 in both Boxster and Cayman form. Also, it is reported that Boxster will retain its fabric top than having a fixed roof solution. The body style will remain the same as the currently available Porsche models, but it will have a new "electric front" with broader headlights, similar to Taycan.

The new 718 will hit the US auto market by 2025 unless plans are pushed back. The current, gasoline-powered model will be sold alongside the electric one briefly. The company has revealed the duration of its production run in the upcoming Euro 7 emissions regulation and will further work on its gasoline engines.
