AWS for Games is all set to do...For AWS, entering the gaming segment has remained a primary target for quite some time now, and the latest initiative has strengthened that effort
Amazon Web Services Inc., a popular player in the cloud segment, has recently made an announcement that several new products and services will make their debut for videogame devs. The latest offering is named aptly AWS for Games, and it contains a suite of tools and services spanning six areas: game serves, cloud game development, game analytics, game AI, game security, and live operations. For AWS, entering the gaming segment has remained a primary target for quite some time now, and the latest initiative has strengthened that effort. GameLift from Amazon had previously given the devs a dedicated hosting solution to scale, operate, and deploy co-op games.
Amazon also has its own game development wing called Amazon Game Studios, and along with that, the company also owns the popular game streaming service Twitch. Bill Vass, VP of Engineering at AWS, has stated that the cloud is significantly altering the way games are being built, played, and distributed. He furthermore added that game developers are constantly accelerating their cloud journey, and they want to build the games faster with regular updates. This will massively impact the engagement level of the games and increase the player base. The high-priority workload can also be handled with ease with the AWS for Games.
