Twitter provides an edit butto...Twitter is finally giving its users the new feature they have most requested - an edit button.
Twitter tweeted, "If you see an edited Tweet, it's because we're testing the edit button. This is happening, and you'll be OK." The company is currently testing the feature. This feature will be rolled out to subscribers of Twitter Blue in the coming weeks, costing $4.99 per month. Tweets will be available to edit a few times in the 30 minutes after posting.
Twitter Blue is available in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and Canada, but the initial tests will be limited to just one country. The company blogged that the edited tweets will appear with a timestamp, an icon, and a link to their "edit history," creating a publicly accessible record and protecting the integrity of the conversation.
Previously, the company's former chief executive and co-founder said that Twitter would never provide an edit button. But after Elon Musk planned to buy Twitter in April, the company posted a poll where 73.6% of the 4.4 million respondents said they wanted an edit option. However, some maintain that the button is unnecessary and remains contrary to the spirit of the platform.
