Google's Pixel Watch now includes nocturnal blood oxygen monitoring

Google's Pixel Watch

The addition of blood oxygen tracking comes alongside a slew of new Pixel Watch and Pixel Phone updates.

Google's Pixel Watch is a newcomer to the market in comparison to its competitors, so it has some catching up to do in terms of features. To that aim, Google has announced a new Pixel Watch update that will include blood oxygen tracking. Your watch will monitor your nightly oxygen saturation and notify you of any changes while you sleep. Blood oxygen tracking is available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch, Apple Watch, and Google-owned Fitbit trackers.

Some Fitbit functionalities were first integrated into the Pixel Watch, though not always neatly. We noticed a consistent delay (between hours and days) in the availability of current health data, such as walks and sleep time, in recent original review of the Pixel Watch. It's uncertain whether the same problem will exist with this new functionality.

The addition of blood oxygen tracking comes alongside a slew of new Pixel Watch and Pixel Phone updates. On the health front, the Pixel Watch will monitor your heart rate and send you notifications if it becomes problematic. Improved emergency sharing, emoji backgrounds, and the ability to export recordings to Google Docs are among the new improvements for Google Pixel Phones.
