Semi-automated workflows streamline vendor payments and request approvals.

Atomicwork has launched with $11 million in seed funding to develop AI-powered conversational processes that automate internal workflows and standardize the employee experience. The San Francisco- and Singapore-based start-up is targeting mid-market firms with employee counts of between 500 and 2,000. The service has been designed to improve productivity through self-service tools and intuitive chatbots that incorporate machine learning. Founder Vijay Rayapati said Atomicwork learns from all company wikis, policy documents, FAQs, and historical tickets to answer employee questions, automating many tasks and freeing up valuable time for HR and IT departments. The team described the conversational AI technology as a possible rival to ServiceNow but highlighted its well-differentiated markets given the focus on mid-level firms.

The start-up’s founders include Rayapati, who was GM at Nutanix; Kiran Darisi, who was the founder of Freshworks; and SaaS veteran Parsuram Vijayasankar. The company aims to become the business service management suite for internal, external, and partner operations, as well as general and administrative functions. Atomicwork’s conversational AI responds to employee questions and service requests via chatbots integrated with collaboration tools like Slack and Microsoft Teams. Aimed at hybrid workforces, it has workflows to handle simple, common queries like reimbursement and employee onboarding, as well as more complex ones requiring human oversight. Semi-automated workflows streamline vendor payments and request approvals. While fully automated ones speed up reimbursement processes.
