CEO REVIEW

I don’t want my life to be just another rags to riches story. I want to work harder, build relations, and inspire people I am surrounded with: Manish Pandey, CEO of Apsensys Group

In 2006, Manish Pandey, working a part-time job while pursuing B.Sc. degree in Jharkhand, was setting an example for others on how to make the best use of time. Who knew that a young man from the small town of Ranchi, Jharkhand, would overcome all obstacles and go on to become the global face of one of the most reputable magazine brands?

For Manish, life was difficult and full of unknowns; his father's unexpected death in the year 2002, marked the beginning of his struggles during his college years. Manish's father had struggled mightily to pay for his son's schooling. Without any kind of financial support, Manish found it difficult to even pursue his studies. He was in such bad financial shape that the administration of his college forced him to stop attending when he failed to pay the annual tuition, forcing him to take out a loan to finish his studies.

Because of such situations, Manish refused to go on any college trips, even when his friends offered to pay for them, and he skipped any events that required him to pay extra money because he could not think of spending extra money—not even on three square meals a day—while he was studying. To save on whatever little money he had, Manish spent days eating a single meal to survive.

Throughout his struggles, Manish's insatiable desire to "learn and earn" drove him forward. But his true battle didn't begin until he left school and began working in order to support himself. To get by and make ends meet in his difficult circumstances, he took on odd jobs like selling landline phones, water purifiers, and distributing pamphlets. Manish worked hard to support his family by working more than two jobs; going door-to-door selling water purifiers and tending to small-time issues at a polling booth were just some of the jobs he did. Also, his rooms were often poorly lit, another way he tried to cut expenditures whenever possible.

Manish was a diligent worker who was always interested in learning new things. He was naturally curious, so he asked a lot of questions, but the majority of his employers never valued that side of him and instead saw him as gullible and unsophisticated. Manish used to work somewhere where he was harassed for not learning proper grammar and was frequently made fun of for speaking poor English. These experiences made him decide to improve his speaking and learning abilities.

Manish, however, was not the type to quit and go away. He went from being unable to speak English at all to being able to do so with some degree of ability. By interacting with his clients and then frequently speaking to large crowds, he overcame his stage fear of speaking in front of a large number of people. He performed numerous jobs while working for previous employers, including working alone through the night to manage their US Company, in addition to his regular duties.

After years of hard work, Manish established Apsensys Media in 2011, purely bootstrapped with a minimal amount of 2100 rupees. He had fully funded the project out of his own pocket, using a strategy known as bootstrapping. The business started off as a one-room operation with a single laptop. He has built the company to the point that, in just one business unit, he employs over 100 individuals in just ten years. Manish, who has always wanted his own office, opened the Apsensys Business Towers in 2023 providing services across media, food & beverage, FMCG, and technology industries.

Lastly, Manish, a modest man from modest beginnings, with corporate experience of impressive 18 years, is one of the few entrepreneurs who never hesitated to get his hands dirty—he even handled the housekeeping tasks at the first office of his company. A few of Manish's first workers received financial assistance for their house down payment from the generous man, which greatly helped them establish a stable foundation for their lives.
