Microsoft is all set to make few Xbox exclusives as multiplatform games

Microsoft
The Silicon Review
13 Febuary, 2024

Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment are reportedly the first two games that will launch on rival consoles.

The Xbox division of Microsoft needs to expand. In addition, Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has previously acknowledged that Xbox Game Pass subscriptions are also declining. The company's Xbox Series S and X sales continue to trail behind Sony's PlayStation 5. He agreed that when Microsoft's major, exclusive Bethesda game, Starfield, was postponed, 2022 would be a barren year for Xbox titles. According to people with knowledge of Microsoft's plans, the company is preparing to release a limited selection of Xbox games on the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and even Bethesda games like Starfield and Indiana Jones may make an appearance on non-Xbox platforms, according to a few rumors.

Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment are reportedly the first two games that will launch on rival consoles. Along with other first-party games, Microsoft currently has plans to release Sea of Thieves on non-Xbox platforms later this year. Microsoft will not have taken lightly the tectonic shift in strategy that comes with releasing Xbox games on the PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. There are many dangers involved, but it will provide Microsoft with greater exposure for its first-party games and a chance to increase gaming revenue. The Xbox One's effective release of its games to the Nintendo Switch and PS5 raises the question of how many more Xbox titles will support multiple platforms in the future.
