China Airlines announced its expansion to North American network
The Silicon Review
14 March, 2024

Having operated in the North American market for over fifty years, China Airlines has experienced substantial growth

China Airlines, based in Taiwan, has announced plans to commence non-stop flights to Seattle beginning July 14, 2024. This new route from Taipei to Seattle will enhance the airline's passenger services in the northwestern United States, offering five weekly flights operated by the Airbus A350-900. By expanding its presence in the Americas, China Airlines aims to cater to the growing demand for travel between Taiwan and North America while also leveraging its extensive regional network to capture a larger share of the transfer market in Asia and drive business expansion. The Taipei-Seattle service will operate every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Departing from Taoyuan Airport at 23:30, flight CI022 will arrive in Seattle at 19:50 local time after an 11-hour journey. The return flight, CI021, will depart Seattle at 01:40 local time and arrive back at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan at 05:05 the following morning after a 13-hour flight. China Airlines aims to capitalize on the robust demand in the US-Taiwan travel market, with the addition of the Seattle service representing a significant step in expanding its North American network. Seattle Airport welcomed over 50 million travelers in 2023, establishing itself as the largest airport in the Northwestern USA. The introduction of the Seattle route will further expand China Airlines' North American network to six non-stop destinations, offering more than 40 return flights each week to North America and enhancing convenience for both business travelers and tourists.
