MVA joined the Brand USA Austr...Governed by an 11-member board of directors appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Brand USA aims to foster cross-cultural understanding
In a move aimed at exploring Australia's potential as a new source market for the Marianas, the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) recently participated in the Brand USA Road Show, engaging with travel trade representatives across three major cities in Australia. Hosted in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane last month, the Brand USA Australia Road Show provided a platform for the MVA to connect with nearly 600 travel agents and industry representatives, presenting insights about the Marianas. Furthermore, during the event in Sydney, 20 travel agents expressed interest in conducting business-to-business (B2B) meetings with the MVA, facilitating in-depth discussions on tourism opportunities in the Marianas.
Christopher A. Concepcion, Managing Director of the MVA, highlighted the distinct nature of the Australian market compared to the traditional markets of Japan, Korea, and China, emphasizing the valuable insights gained through discussions. Concepcion cited potential strategies such as positioning the Marianas as an "add-on" to trips to Japan, reflecting the need for thorough research, time, and funding in identifying new markets. The event, spearheaded by Consul General Christine Elder of the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney, also featured the participation of Steve Knode, Senior Commercial Officer for Australia and New Zealand. Knode, with prior experience in Japan and familiarity with the Marianas and the MVA's efforts, contributed to the discussions during the Sydney road show.
