Sridhar Ramaswamy, of Indian descent, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Snowflake, a data cloud company based in the United States. Reflecting on Slootman's tenure, Ramaswamy praised the establishment of Snowflake as a leading cloud data platform under his leadership, providing enterprises with secure, scalable, and cost-effective data foundations and advanced AI resources. Ramaswamy expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead Snowflake forward, emphasizing the company's potential to empower customers with AI-driven business value. He pledged to focus on accelerating innovation for customers and partners.

Since joining Snowflake in May 2023 through the acquisition of Neeva, Ramaswamy has spearheaded the company's AI strategy. Notably, he led the introduction of Snowflake Cortex, a new fully managed service simplifying AI deployment for users to drive business outcomes efficiently. Slootman endorsed Ramaswamy's leadership, highlighting his visionary approach and successful track record in running and scaling businesses. Slootman expressed confidence in Ramaswamy's ability to steer Snowflake through its growth phase, particularly in AI and machine learning. He previously held leadership roles at Google, overseeing its advertising products and contributing significantly to the growth of AdWords and Google's advertising business. Ramaswamy also held research positions at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). He served as a Venture Partner at Greylock Partners and currently sits on the board of trustees at Brown University.
