Microsoft to Unveil 'Next Phase' of Copilot on September 16th
The Silicon Review
05 September, 2024

Microsoft is also expected to introduce many new features for Microsoft 365 Copilot, aimed at improving its appeal to business customers

Lead by CEO Satya Nadella and VP of AI at Work, Jared Spataro Microsoft is expected to announce the "next phase of Copilot innovation" at a special event on September 16. The primary focus of the virtual event, which is set to be live on LinkedIn, will be the business aspects of Microsoft's Copilot capabilities.

The rebranding initiative, with "Microsoft 365 Copilot" taking the spotlight, is expected to be the event's main attraction. Previously known as "Copilot in Word" or "Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365," the new names will be more in line with Microsoft’s product environment. However, this rebranding is not the sole focus of the event. Microsoft is also expected to introduce many new features for Microsoft 365 Copilot, aimed at improving its appeal to business customers, who presently face a $30-per-user-per-month subscription cost. In addition to business features, there is speculation around updates for Copilot Pro, Microsoft’s $20 monthly consumer subscription. Despite its initial fanfare, Copilot Pro has seen few new feature releases since its launch, with Microsoft even removing a key GPT Builder function in June.

With Microsoft’s aim to incorporate AI into its list of Office apps, the September 16th event is expected to be an important moment in the company's future AI-guided strategies.
