Meesho Reports 40% Surge in Or...A 45% increase in new users of e-commerce was also observed by the e-commerce platform, with tier-IV cities and remote areas showing an impressive demand
Meesho has announced a remarkable 40% year-on-year increase in total orders during its "Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale 2024," which ran from September 27 to October 6. A remarkable 145 crore customers accessed the sale, indicating a notable increase in the use of digital payments. A 45% increase in new users of e-commerce was also observed by the e-commerce platform, with tier-IV cities and remote areas showing an impressive demand.
Meesho's General Manager of User Growth, Milan Partani, highlighted the company's dedication to providing affordable and accessible e-commerce, noting that the sale surpassed industry expectations with roughly 3 crore app downloads. Tier-IV cities accounted for 45% of all client visits, according to Meesho, suggesting the expanding market potential in these areas. Along with major metropolises like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, the offer also reached buyers in remote locales like Ranaghat in West Bengal and Neyyattinkara in Kerala.
Prepaid orders, in particular, increased by 117%, which suggests that consumers are favoring digital payment options, particularly in tier-II cities and beyond. Product categories showed a surprising 105% growth in home and kitchen goods, a 60% increase in beauty and personal care items, and a 75% increase in kids' and newborn essentials. Furthermore, Meesho Mall orders—which sell branded merchandise—doubled, indicating the platform's growing popularity.
