Salesforce Faces Global Outage, Disrupting CRM Services Worldwide
The Silicon Review
02 October, 2024

The outage appears to impact a significant number of customers globally, though not all users are affected

A significant number of users were impacted by a global outage that struck Salesforce, the biggest customer relationship management (CRM) platform in the world. The company is swiftly fixing the issue, but the cause of the disruption remains unknown.

Salesforce said that it was working on a fix acknowledging the disruption. "The emergency release continues rollout in a staggered fashion across all impacted instances," Salesforce reported in a status update, adding that users may experience brief service interruptions as the fix is applied. The outage appears to impact a significant number of customers globally, though not all users are affected. Salesforce's reliance on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud compute and its own 10 self-managed data centers across the U.S., Europe, and Japan underscores the scale of its infrastructure, but it is unclear which regions or systems are specifically compromised.

Salesforce has assured users that services will gradually return, but companies that depend on the platform for essential functions are currently experiencing brief interruptions. Since 2016, Salesforce has combined its own data centers with AWS's cloud services to guarantee redundancy and dependability. Affected clients are waiting for a complete restoration of services as the company looks into the matter and implements solutions.
