SEC Thailand Showcases Data-Driven Approach to Digital Asset Regulation at IOSCO Seminar
The Silicon Review
10 October, 2024

Thailand is better equipped to negotiate the quickly changing digital asset space, according to Pinsai, because of the inclusion of modern technology into its regulatory framework

At the 26th IOSCO Seminar Training Program, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC Thailand) presented its innovative study on digital asset regulation. The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) hosted a conference on September 24-26, 2024, with an emphasis on the supervision and regulation of the cryptocurrency and digital asset markets.

Alongside Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanis Saengchote of Chulalongkorn Business School, Mr. Pongpit Pinsai, Director of the Research and Data Department, represented SEC Thailand and introduced a research case study titled "SEC Thailand's Data Analysis for Crypto and Digital Asset Supervision." The presentation emphasized the utilization of big data and advanced data analytics to track investor behavior and market dynamics. This monitoring enables regulators to create more efficient regulations for Thailand's expanding digital asset market. SEC Thailand is better equipped to negotiate the quickly changing digital asset space, according to Pinsai, because of the inclusion of modern technology into its regulatory framework. "By leveraging sophisticated data analytics, we are better positioned to ensure market integrity and protect investors," he stated.

More than 100 people attended the conference, representing 50 regulatory agencies, and it provided a valuable forum for exchanging knowledge about the regulation of digital assets. By participating, SEC Thailand is demonstrating its continued dedication to implementing global best practices and ensuring a strong regulatory framework for digital assets that aligns with international norms.
