Acura Announces RSX: A Compact...A teaser image reveals a sleek, coupe-like roofline, a full-width rear light bar, and aggressive rear bumper vents that enhance its sporty aesthetics.
Acura has revealed its next step in electrification with the announcement of the RSX, a compact electric SUV poised to follow the success of its first EV, the ZDX. Deliveries of the ZDX began last spring, and it closed its first year with 7,391 units sold in 2024. While the ZDX was developed on General Motors' platform, shared with models like the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq, the RSX marks a shift to Honda’s proprietary EV architecture. Reviving a name previously used for a rebadged Acura Integra from 2002 to 2006, the RSX introduces a new chapter in Acura’s electric journey. This compact electric SUV, positioned below the ZDX in size, showcases Acura's bold design language. A teaser image reveals a sleek, coupe-like roofline, a full-width rear light bar, and aggressive rear bumper vents that enhance its sporty aesthetics.
The RSX builds on the foundation of the Acura Performance EV concept, unveiled at Monterey Car Week in 2023. It will debut Honda’s new EV platform, which also underpins the upcoming Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV prototypes revealed at CES. Additionally, the RSX will be the first vehicle to feature Honda’s ASIMO OS, a next-generation operating system unveiled alongside the 0-series. Details about ASIMO OS remain scarce, but its inclusion signals a push toward smarter, more integrated EV experiences. Production of the RSX is set to begin later this year at Honda’s revamped EV Hub in Ohio, which includes its Marysville and East Liberty plants. These facilities have been upgraded to support a mix of hybrids, internal-combustion vehicles, and EVs. The RSX will be the first electric model built in Ohio, with Honda’s 0-series models joining production shortly thereafter.
Acura plans to launch the RSX in early 2026, with additional details expected later in 2025. As Acura expands its EV lineup, the RSX promises to deliver an exciting blend of performance, innovation, and design for a new era of electric mobility.
