Shankh Air Targets May 2025 Launch with A320 Fleet

The Indian start-up Shankh Air has scheduled a May 2025 commercial debut using five A320-200 series aircraft with plans to operate as a competitive full-service carrier.

Indian startup Shankh Air from Lucknow nears its planned May 2025 launch while waiting for its air operator's certificate (AOC). This year Shankh Air will add five Airbus A320-200s to its fleet and expects an additional ten more planes to join in 2026.

As Uttar Pradesh's inaugural scheduled airline Shankh Air wants to provide full-service flights at competitive prices between economy and business classes. Shankh Air decided to shift from next-generation Boeing aircraft to the A320ceo variant during its fleet selection process.

A company representative stated the firm is actively pursuing the AOC certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Airline anticipates acquiring the DGCA certification by April after complying with approved regulations.

Shankh Air received startup capital totaling $50 million from Chairman Sharvan Kumar Vishwakarma before acquiring additional $200 million from its parent company Shankh Trading Pvt. Ltd. The airline plans to launch international operations before the end of 2027. The airline will reveal its aircraft acquisition information through announcements in February while concluding leasing deals with its equipment partners.
