Telangana attracts life sciences investments, creating 22,300 jobs and boosting pharmaceutical infrastructure development.

With the potential to generate over 22,300 employments, Telangana has obtained investment commitments in the life sciences sector of Rs 11,100 crore. The announcements were made during Bio Asia 2025, an event for the life sciences and healthcare that brings together scientists, innovators, industry leaders, and politicians to debate advancements in technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare.

With 17 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) inked between the Telangana government and businesses including Granules, Orbicular, Aizant, Biological E, Virchow, Jubilant, Bharat Biotech, and Sai Life Sciences, a sizable amount of the investments are going toward the state's Green Pharma City program. 9,800 jobs are anticipated to be created by these agreements, which represent investments totaling Rs 5,445 crore.

International life sciences firms have also revealed aspirations to grow in Hyderabad. Citing Telangana's strengths in manufacturing and research, MSD, USA, is joining the ecosystem. A Life Sciences Innovation & Talent Development Lab and a new Hyderabad office were opened by Agilisium, a data and cloud solutions firm based in Los Angeles. A cGMP biopharma testing lab is being established in Genome Valley by ALS, a testing and certification business. The Lotus business Meishi Pharma is establishing its second research and development facility in Hyderabad.

The government is highlighting the Young India Skills University, which just finished its inaugural chemistry skills program, and developing a separate Life Sciences University to aid in talent development. "Workforce development and skill enhancement continue to be our top priority. Sridhar Babu continued, "We are making sure that our personnel pool is industry-ready and globally competitive.

With plans to build 10 new pharma towns between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the soon-to-be Regional Ring Road (RRR), the state is also growing its pharmaceutical infrastructure. This is anticipated to provide over five lakh jobs in the life sciences and allied fields.
