Xcel Energy Commits to Sustainable Energy for Future Generations

Xcel Energy stated in its 20th annual Sustainability Report that it is still working hard to lower carbon emissions from its operations while also helping to boost the economy. The company now provides a wide range of reliable electric services across the economy — from data centers and electric vehicle charging stations to home heating and natural gas development.

These services allow customers to select cleaner energy sources while also promoting growth in communities and economies. At the same time, Xcel Energy has significantly lowered its carbon footprint through innovative techniques, resulting in a 57% decrease in emissions in comparison to 2005. Bob Frenzel, who is the chairman, president, and CEO of the company, said that Xcel Energy is strongly committed to providing energy that is not only dependable and affordable but also safe and environmentally responsible for the millions of people it serves". He added that, with the nation’s most diverse mixes of clean energy resources — including wind, solar, nuclear, hydro, and natural gas — the company is proud of the achievements it has made toward an economy of carbon-free electricity."

Since 2018, Xcel Energy has been consistently working to reduce its carbon emissions, moving closer to its ambitious target of providing completely carbon-free electricity to its customers by 2050. Frenzel stated that the energy Xcel Energy supplies allows people to choose cleaner options for their homes or workplaces, helping to move the economy forward — whether they live in a single-family home or run a tech company operating a large data center.
