Domu’s Alejandra Pulido on R...The world of the fintech industry involves high stakes. Here, every dollar counts, and customer trust is something built up and cultivated over time. Moreover, many consequences await every decision. No matter how stressful the industry gets, Domu’s Chief Operating Officer, Alejandra Pulido, is rewriting the rules and revolutionizing debt collection. Pulido shares: “Having worked in customer service myself, I understand the challenges agents face. Our AI solution provides agents with better data, reducing their workload and improving client interactions.”
Domu, a start-up led by Pulido, uses generative AI voice bots that handle everything from initial outreach to nuanced negotiations. Every process, however, is done without the chill of cold calling that can plague traditional collections. Alejandra recalls how AI integration made a big difference to operations: “For example, we’re working with Teleperformance, a major BPO, to integrate AI for their clients, enhancing their processes and brand innovation. This helps companies stay competitive by adopting new ideas and improving efficiency.”
It comes as no surprise, considering Pulido’s background, that such innovations come to her naturally. Born in Colombia, Pulido holds an international affairs and finance degree from the Universidad Externado. After spending some time broadening her horizons as an exchange student in Germany, she went on to work in financial services, diving into crypto, Web3, and blockchain. This led Pulido to further explorations in AI, particularly in security, compliance, and collections.
If one wanted a masterclass in bridging finance and tech, Pulido is the one to watch. Her path to Domu’s C-suite is remarkable. Her journey started after being immersed in the world of finance and international affairs as a student in Universidad Externado. As a student, she delved deeper into business operations and finance strategies, opting to go on an academic exchange program in Munich, Germany. After her graduation, she started with a stint as a customer service representative in PayPal. Here, she was exposed first-hand to the day-to-day challenges and realities of customer service in the fintech space.
Pulido, however, immediately broadened her horizons. As she finished up fielding billing woes for diverse clients in customer service, she immediately dove into tech and operations as a Business Operations intern for German company Holidu and as a participant in the Makers Fellowship in Colombia. Both these experiences honed her skills in product experimentation, market analysis, and AI-driven operations.
Pulido recalls her professional background vividly: “I was always fascinated by how financial systems work globally. During an exchange program in Germany, I studied finance and interned at a startup, which sparked my passion for fast-paced environments where I could make an impact quickly. I worked at a payments company for three years, diving into crypto, Web3, and blockchain. This led me to explore AI and its applications in financial services, particularly in security, compliance, and collections.”
There’s no doubt her early fascination for finance led to her passionate commitment to operations and fintech. Before spearheading innovation at Domu, she had already developed systems for metric tracking, assisted with and scaled daily operations, and organized teams and events in the tech and start-up industries. Soon, she became the founding member of the KillB team, a company dedicated to providing businesses access to cross-border banking.
To say that she was a fantastic leader in KillB would be an understatement. Lisa Marumoto, KillB CEO, recounts Pulido’s time in the company: “Alejandra’s contributions went beyond executing tasks: she shaped KillB’s operational DNA. Her role in Colombia helped establish regional best practices, supported regulatory alignment, and ensured KillB’s value was delivered seamlessly in diverse Latin American contexts. Her expertise, technical orientation, and ability to collaboratively design and scale innovative operational systems make her an extraordinary leader, precisely the kind of professional whose influence continues to propel our firm’s mission forward.”
At KillB, Pulido worked not only with the business development department but also with the legal and sales teams. Her primary focus was to enhance scalability, improve operational efficiency, and execute growth-focused strategies. The teams she handled benefited from her presence, leading KillB to become a company with internal tools and systems, data-driven dashboards, and effective logistics performance.
Juliane Martins, one of KillB’s leaders, also commends her work ethic and personality: “Her curiosity and problem-solving mindset stand out. For example, when faced with repetitive financial reconciliation tasks, she designed automated workflows using AI and automation platforms, drastically reducing time spent and improving accuracy.”
It’s clear that Pulido goes beyond the technical. In response to her values as a leader, she muses: “Ownership is key—I take full responsibility for projects and encourage my team to do the same. Accountability ensures we stay on top of industry trends and client needs. Innovation is crucial in a traditional industry like finance, where we push clients to embrace new solutions.”
Soon after KillB, Pulido started her journey in Domu — the first licensed AI collections agency. Pulido’s current stint at Domu has only furthered innovation. She oversaw end-to-end projects at top global financial institutions, ensuring companies such as giants Chubb, BNP, TP, Alliance One, HDI, Skandia and Nubank benefited from her expertise. In particular, Pulido shines in automating cross-border collections. She applies skills in Python, SQL, and API integration, quickly diagnosing bottlenecks before they become real problems.
At the very beginning of her role, Pulido ensured bottlenecks wouldn’t persist. As Chief Operating Officer, she used data analysis and technical tools to improve workflow efficiency. As a result, bottlenecks were easily spotted and resolved. In addition, she took on existing internal processes and went further than just refining them. Pulido successfully redesigned the entire workflow, collaborating closely with the product and engineering teams. She oversaw Domu’s work with hands-on care, staying involved from scoping through iteration.
Pulido’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed. Camila Zancanella, co-founder and CPO of Domu, frankly shares her experience working alongside Pulido: “Since joining Domu in July 2025, Ms. Pulido has been instrumental in scaling our operations and positioning Domu as a global leader in AI-driven debt collection and client communications.” After marking Pulido as a key figure in Domu, she continues: “Her ability to integrate advanced AI solutions with financial services workflows has made her role indispensable to our growth and market leadership. I can state without hesitation that Ms. Alejandra Pulido plays a leading and critical role at Domu Technology Inc. Her contributions have fundamentally shaped our operational success and innovation roadmap, and her impact extends across the global financial services industry. She is a key driver of Domu’s present and future success.”
Domu CFO Felipe Cortes couldn’t agree more: “Her insights helped us automate core financial processes, saving significant operational time and improving analytical precision. Just as importantly, she helped us establish a stronger culture of cross-functional collaboration between finance and data teams.”
After leveraging her tech foundation to create better systems for Domu, she also led a flagship project in integrating calls, WhatsApp, SMS, and emails for Domu’s AI platform to reduce the burden on the human agent workforce. As a result, Domu enjoys intelligent routing, personalization, and superior performance in customer collections and engagement.
Pulido knows precisely what she brings to the table. She reflects: “My expertise lies in combining AI with financial services knowledge to build products that improve collections, compliance, and customer service. I organize engineering teams to create solutions that align with client needs, drawing on my experience in customer service and international transactions.”
Domu’s tech stands out in the industry with its voice bots. Contrary to popular belief, none of them are scripted robots. Instead, they’re generative AI agents trained on various financial datasets, enabling them to converse naturally across different communication channels. For example, Pulido implemented AI chat bots on WhatsApp and programmed them to sound natural over the phone. She shares: “They initially wanted a simple collections agent, but we built a comprehensive product from scratch, incorporating WhatsApp for communication, especially for immigrant clients who rely on it. This was challenging because WhatsApp isn’t widely used for business in the U.S., unlike texting.”
We can take a look at recent U.S lending clients. Immigrants, for example, are often underserved by SMS-heavy systems and instead prefer and rely on WhatsApp. In response, Pulido’s team built a bespoke bot that seamlessly integrated AI into the app. The results were stellar: contact rates were boosted by 50%.
To hammer in AI and WhatsApp —the leading agents in business —wasn't easy. Pulido knows this well and says: “Implementing it required understanding diverse client needs, which deepened my expertise in tailoring AI solutions for global financial services.”
To date, the bots have recovered more debt through personalized nudges. Pulido shares: “I contributed to training AI to interact more naturally with clients, doubling our contactability rate and improving sentiment, which boosts debt collection rates.” When AI is trained on tone rather than just scripts, one can maintain brand integrity and improve the necessary processes.
Pulido's playbook doesn’t just emphasize efficiency. She also advocates for proper ethics. Drawing from her days at PayPal and other companies, Pulido believes in recovery, fairness, and efficiency. As a result, Domu’s operations allow faster iterations. This dynamic has led similar companies to adopt the same models, making Domu the standard.
Pulido acknowledges the burden and stress her work can cause, but it doesn’t faze her commitment. She shares: ”I work on ensuring strong financial results for clients while maintaining fair interactions with end users. I focus on improving AI-driven communication, like voicebots and other channels, to maximize collections without overwhelming clients, balancing company goals with user experience.” She makes her work leave a good impact, consistently addressing issues promptly and mobilizing teams and providers as needed. She heavily emphasizes the need for transparency in her work, aiming to enhance both trust and operations.
As someone who has worked in customer service for financial institutions before, she understands the plights of her clients all too well — and she knows how to provide a solution. She reflects: “Clients are frustrated by inefficient debt collection and poor customer interactions. Our AI recovers owed money efficiently while humanizing interactions through natural-sounding voicebots.”
To Pulido, the secret to such success lies in commitment. She says: “I stay involved across departments, ensuring fast progress and team collaboration, always prioritizing learning and innovation.”
Pulido relentlessly persists in widening fintech through AI. More than an individual who contributes to the industry, Pulido is also a distinguished AI hackathon judge and participant. She reveals: “I’ve judged three hackathons, including one for Makers in Colombia, a prestigious fellowship for young innovators. I’ve also been a panelist at AI and blockchain events, mentoring startups, and evaluating business cases for growth potential.”
Pulido consistently shows that she thrives best in places where innovation is king. Growth is a priority, and she stops at nothing to learn and apply more skills. As a result of her hard work, she won AI hackathons in San Francisco and developed innovative solutions in a grant for blockchain protocol.
MHacks, a space for young innovators, creators, and thinkers, remembered Pulido with warmth: “At MHacks, we love to work with judges who can bring their unique experience and skills to the table. As a judge, Alejandra’s expertise was indispensable and helped make our event impactful and memorable for all hackers.”
They aren’t alone in thinking so. At Vibe25, Transpose Platform Management Partner James Tan distinguishes Pulido with her multiple awards: “These recognitions reflect her superior technical ability to detect vulnerabilities, engineer sophisticated exploits, and lead real-time adversarial strategies under pressure. Judges for the competition included prominent AI founders and engineers from Blaxel (YC X25), SubImage (YC W25), and Subtrace (YC.
W25), ensuring that awards were decided by experts of the highest caliber in the field Ms. Pulido’s award-winning performance at VIBE25 reflects her deep expertise in artificial intelligence, particularly in adversarial prompting, model security, and the optimization of generative AI systems.”
Nicolas Diaz Durant, CEO and Co-Founder of Domu reveals Pulido has a unique ability in her field because of her capacity to straddle multi-national markets with her knowledge: “Her work helps companies automate debt collection and payment processes while staying compliant with U.S. regulations and privacy standards. That means better experiences for customers — faster resolutions, clearer communication, and more human-sounding, empathetic interactions.
“Beyond her technical skills, Alejandra brings a global perspective that adds a lot of value to the U.S. tech scene. She really knows how to connect financial systems between North and Latin America, helping U.S. companies expand into new markets and serve diverse communities more effectively.”
With all her skills and talent at hand, Pulido eyes the future of multimodal AI, which blends voice with video for richer interactions. As Domu scales beyond telecommunications, her vision for AI doesn’t stop at collection. AI can connect others, too.
One can’t help but observe how, in this era of rising delinquencies, Pulido’s AI expertise remakes the entire finance industry — and strengthens it as a powerhouse of efficiency and innovation.
