Bali Boosts Holiday Transportation Security

Bali heightens security in transportation to boost the movement of people during the peak holiday periods and provide safe transportation throughout the island.

With the coming of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the government of Bali is enhancing the safety of transportation to accommodate the rise in accessibility of almost five million tourists. The government has stationed more people in key transportation centers to make sure they travel safely and efficiently in one of the busiest seasons on the island.

Security at Denpasar International Airport, bus terminals and ferry ports has been improved where the number of passengers is expected to increase drastically. They said that the measures are meant to help avert congestion and enhance better management of crowds, as well as ensure smooth movement of transportation among airports, hotels, tourist spots, and other neighboring islands.

Padangbai and Serangan are the ports that are ready when the board of transport increases its demand as the customers head towards Padangbai, Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and the Gili Islands. Additional services are being implemented, such as extra bag checks, traffic management, and service to passengers, to reduce delays and improve the safety of travelers in the transportation network.

Local governments are also implementing tourist information campaigns and assistance desks at strategic places in order to provide direction to tourists on licensed cabs, shuttle services, and ride-hailing services. Customers are also being urged to book transportation ahead of time and carry with them extended wait times during heavy times of the day.

Besides security, Bali is enhancing sustainable methods of traveling, such as electric cars and bike hire, to minimize the effects that the holiday season has on environmental degradation. According to the officials, the integrated approach towards safety, efficiency, and sustainability is the key to providing a smooth and safe festive season to the visitors and the residents.
