Larsen & Toubro has won a mega order valued up to ₹15,000 crore ($1.57 billion) to build India's largest NVIDIA B300 AI factory for US-based Together AI at its Chennai data centre campus.

Larsen & Toubro, India's engineering and construction giant, has secured a mega order to build the country's largest single-cluster AI infrastructure, deploying 10,000 NVIDIA B300 GPUs at its Chennai data centre campus for US-based AI cloud company Together AI. The order is valued in the range of ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore ($1.05 billion - $1.57 billion).

"Artificial Intelligence is becoming foundational to every industry and AI Factories will power this transformation. Our deployment of an NVIDIA B300 AI Factory for Together AI marks a significant milestone in L&T's Gigawatt AI Infrastructure Mission and reinforces our commitment to making India a global hub for next-generation AI infrastructure," said S N Subrahmanyan, chairman and managing director, Larsen & Toubro.

The AI Factory Project

The AI factory will be developed by L&T's AI infrastructure subsidiary LTN Compute (part of Vyoma.AI) and hosted at Vyoma's Chennai data centre campus. The Chennai campus is planned as a gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure site, with Phase 1 designed for 250 MW and power infrastructure readiness of 150 MVA, allowing for future expansion.

The integrated infrastructure will combine hyperscale data centre capacity with accelerated computing, high-performance networking, ultra-low-latency interconnects, parallel storage, and AI infrastructure operations. This end-to-end stack will enable customers to seamlessly deploy and scale AI workloads through a single, unified platform.

The Partnership with Together AI

Together AI, the US-based AI cloud innovator, will use the AI factory to power its AI-native cloud platform, catering to large-scale AI training, inference, and fine-tuning workloads. Vipul Ved Prakash, co-founder and CEO of Together AI, said, "Making AI globally accessible is going to be the biggest infrastructure build-out in human history, and L&T understands that. That's exactly why we partnered with them to bring the scale, resilience and engineering excellence this moment demands to India."

Strategic Significance

The order marks L&T's formal entry into the AI Factory business and is part of its broader Gigawatt AI Infrastructure Mission. The company is building AI-ready digital infrastructure across India through hyperscale AI data centres, sovereign cloud platforms, GPU-as-a-Service, and managed AI platforms.

The project also builds on L&T's existing partnership with NVIDIA, announced at the India AI Summit in February 2026, to develop sovereign, scalable gigawatt-scale AI factory infrastructure under the India AI Mission. That partnership aims to position India as a global AI powerhouse, serving domestic enterprises, global hyperscalers, and cloud providers seeking AI capacity based in India.

"AI is driving the largest infrastructure buildout in human history everyone will use it, every company will be powered by it, and every country will build it. Prime Minister Modi has outlined a bold vision to democratize AI access across the Global South and position India as a global hub for digital infrastructure. Together with L&T an 88-year-old engineering and nation-building leader we are laying the foundation for world-class AI infrastructure that will power India's growth and help realize the full vision of India AI," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

Here is the question this mega order raises. L&T has secured a $1.57 billion order to build India's largest NVIDIA B300 AI factory for Together AI at its Chennai campus. When a major conglomerate commits to building gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure, what does it mean for India's position in the global AI race?

As L&T embarks on this ambitious project, The Silicon Review asks a final question. When India sets out to become a global hub for AI infrastructure, can it build the ecosystem needed to support this level of growth?
