MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk EV, a 7-seater electric SUV with a 517 km range, 204 PS, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen, priced from Rs 19.49 lakh to Rs 23.49 lakh.

MG Motor India has officially unveiled the Hector Tomahawk EV, the brand's first 7-seater electric SUV based on the ADAPT platform. Priced between Rs 19.49 lakh and Rs 23.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the eSUV is available in three variants: Excite, Excite Plus, and Exclusive.

A Conservative Electric SUV Styling

Opting against the radical futuristic styling of other MG EVs, the Hector Tomahawk EV takes a more contemporary and classy approach. Key exterior highlights include:

  • Slim blanked-off grille with textured chrome inserts and illuminated MG logo.
  • Large rectangular LED headlamps with DRLs.
  • 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with red brake callipers.
  • Pull-type door handles (conventional, not flush-fit).
  • Wraparound LED taillamps, chunky silver skid plate, and roof spoiler.

It is available in 7 colour options: Starry Black, Khakhi Green, Aurora Silver, Celadon Blue, Pearl White, and Shadow Blue.

Interior, Features and Space

Inside, the cabin features a light brown and black theme with a minimalist dashboard. The Hector Tomahawk EV is equipped with:

  • 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.
  • 8.8-inch digital driver's display.
  • 10-speaker Infinity sound system.
  • Ventilated front seats with 6-way power adjustment for driver, 4-way for co-driver.
  • Panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, window sunshades, and centre armrest.
  • Pet Mode (adjusts temperature and displays message on screen).
  • In-built karaoke system.

Safety is covered by six airbags, ESC, hill hold assist, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite (Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Traffic Jam Assist) on the top variant.

Powertrain and Battery

The Hector Tomahawk EV is powered by a 69.2 kWh battery pack with a single electric motor producing 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque. It offers a claimed range of 517 km and a 0-100 km/h time of 8.2 seconds. It supports 90 kW DC fast charging, topping up from 30% to 80% in 35 minutes, and includes V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) functionality.

Rivals

The Hector Tomahawk EV competes directly with the Mahindra XEV 9S and the upcoming Tata Safari EV, and is an alternative to electric MPVs like the Kia Carens Clavis EV and VinFast VF MPV 7.

Here is the question this launch raises. MG Motor India has introduced a 7-seater electric SUV with a 517 km range at a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh. When a three-row eSUV enters the market at this price point and feature set, does it have the potential to reshape the electric SUV segment and accelerate EV adoption among family buyers in India?
