Asian Games 2026 Women’s Cricket Final: Once Again India-W wins Gold Medal in Asian Games 2026 Final.

The Indian women cricket team repeated history winning the gold medal once again in the final of Asian Games 2026, defeating Sri Lanka women by 147 runs.

IND-W trashed Sri Lanka-W by 147 runs in the final of the Asian Games 2026 at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. This is the second consecutive time India-W won the gold medal in the Asian Games. The India-W cricket team brings the first gold medal for the Indian contingent at this year’s Asian Games; Indian-W side has shown their dominance in women’s cricket first with the Asia Cup title and now with the 2^nd time gold medal at the Asian Games in the history of cricket at the Asian Games. Sri Lanka-W was the second to clinching Silver and Pakistan-W will have to settle for a Bronze medal in this edition of the Asian Games 2026.

Winning the toss Indian T20 Captain Harmanpreet Kaur decided to bat first, and then the openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma started to dismantle the opponent bowlers, and in the powerplay they scored 67/0. Chamudi Praboda broke the opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma in the 10^th over at the score of 99. Shafali Verma got out for 48 runs off 29 balls, missing out on her well-deserved half century. With a steady 19 runs off 17 balls, Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian side captain, held the innings with Mandhana, and once the captain departed, Richa Ghosh the wicketkeeper of the Indian side showed her blazing innings, scoring 49 runs off 22 balls. Smriti Mandhana was the only player to complete her half century in the final of Asian Games 2026 at 79 runs off 45, putting a record breaking 216/3 on the board for the Sri Lanka-W to chase in order to claim the gold medal.

Looking at the big score, Sri Lanka-W seemed to forget how to bat, and one by one they lost the all the wickets on the score of 69 in 15.4 overs. The captain of the Sri Lanka-W side Chamari Athapaththu scored the highest 29 runs off 21 balls for the team.

Once again, the Indian bowlers did their work magically, but Shafali Verma rolled her arms for the third over and presented the Indian side with their first wicket, taking 2 wickets within the powerplay, Deepti Sharma followed up by dismissing the Sri Lankan side captain, taking 3 wickets in her spell of 4 overs. Shreyanka Patil and Shree Charani got 2-2 wicket respectively.

The winning team now focuses on capitalizing on this momentum for future international matches, while Sri Lanka and Pakistan finish with significant podium results that indicate increasing competition in Asian women's cricket.
