A person has died and several people were injured when a bus and two cars collided on the Melba highway in Victoria’s Yarra Range, near Glenburn, two bus passengers are also in serious condition. The second vehicle was a blue Toyota with minor injuries to both the driver and the passenger. According to a representative for Ambulance Victoria, paramedics evaluated 21 people on the spot. The bus was traveling from Mansfield to Southern Cross on a scheduled V/Line coach trip.

A man died in this afternoon's bus crash in Glenburn, according to Victoria Police.  The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the incident passed away at the scene, according to a statement released by the force. Police said they understand the bus struck a blue Toyota and a white automobile on the Melba Highway near Two Hills Road at around 2:40 p.m., although detectives are still looking into the collision.

While the driver and passenger of the Toyota suffered minor injuries, the driver of the white car died at the spot, according to the police. Police say they think the bus contained eighteen people, including the driver. Two of the bus's passengers were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, two had non-life-threatening injuries, and the remaining passengers received on-site care.

According to the statement of Ambulance Victoria. “A specialist Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter (HEMS) crew, and multiple Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic crews are assessing multiple patients at the scene.”

According to this year's RACV survey, the Melba Highway segment where the collision occurred was the sixth most dangerous in the state. After the crash, the highway between Castella and Yea is no longer open to traffic. It is recommended that drivers take Healesville-Kinglake, Whittlesea-Kinglake, and Whittlesea-Yea Roads as a detour through Kinglake and Flowerdale.
