Exclusive Pakistan blast news:...Live: Today in Pakistan suicide bombers attacked a mosque kills at least 16 with more than 50 people injured. Is it an internal security failure for Pakistan or the bombing was funded from across the border?
A car bomb attack at a mosque in Pakistan’s region of Kohat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Afghan border, as people gathered for Friday prayers. In attack at least 16 people were killed and more than 50 injured, to be more specific 11 civilians and 5 police officers have been killed in the incident.
Attackers and security personnel are engaged in a gunfight at the location. According to an officer, police have killed one of the attackers. According to local media, a rescue effort is underway and the number of deaths could increase.
According to the DPA news agency, Dr. Tahir Shah stated that at least 15 bodies and over 50 injured individuals were sent to the town's hospital. He said that the number of deaths might increase because a number of the injured were in serious condition.
The attack was not immediately attributed to anyone. Though there are two active regional groups having targeted security forces, ISIL armed group and The Pakistan Taliban (TTP).
In recent years, violence has increased in Pakistan's isolated areas close to the Afghan border. The Taliban leaders of Afghanistan are accused by Islamabad of permitting militants who plan strikes in Pakistan to operate from Afghan territory.
But this raises another serious question, why would Muslims target their own worship place?
