Rolex has unveiled four one-of-a-kind Cosmograph Daytona watches inspired by the four seasons, to be auctioned by Phillips in London on September 28. Proceeds will benefit Roger Federer's foundation and Leonardo DiCaprio's Re: wild initiative.

In a rare and striking move, Rolex has unveiled four unique Cosmograph Daytona watches, each inspired by a different season, to be sold at a charity auction in London on September 28. The collection, part of Rolex's Perpetual Planet Initiative, showcases the brand's exceptional gem-setting expertise while supporting environmental conservation and education.

The 'Four Seasons' Collection

The watches represent Rolex's "wilder" side, each with distinct gemstones, colours, and precious metals:

  • Spring: 18 ct white gold, apple-green chrysoprase dial, purple lepidolite counters, purple sapphire hour markers and bezel.
  • Summer: 18 ct Everose gold, turquoise dial, heart of ruby counters, pink sapphire hour markers and bezel.
  • Autumn: 18 ct yellow gold, mookaite dial, chrysoprase counters, green tourmaline hour markers and bezel.
  • Winter: 950 platinum, blue opal dial, lapis lazuli counters, sapphire hour markers and a blue-to-fuchsia gradient bezel.

Each watch also features 54 brilliant-cut diamonds across the lugs and is powered by the Calibre 4131 movement with a 72-hour power reserve.

Supporting Federer and DiCaprio's Charities

Proceeds from the auction will benefit two organisations:

  • The Federer Foundation: Founded by Roger Federer, supports early childhood education in Southern Africa and Switzerland.
  • Re: wild: Co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio, focuses on protecting and restoring critical wild ecosystems worldwide.

Rolex CEO Jean-Frédéric Dufour stated: "True excellence is measured not only by the quality of our products, but also by the positive impact we can have on the world."

The auction will take place at Phillips in London on September 28, with the four watches offered as separate lots.

Here is the question this auction raises. When a brand known for its conservative approach creates four of its most unconventional watches for charity, does this signal a new direction for Rolex, or is it simply a masterstroke in watchmaking and philanthropy?
