US president Trump rejected the most recent Iranian proposal that was presented to the United States during indirect talks this week in New York. Trump said “They have made a proposal and I rejected it.” Later on Sunday Mike Waltz, the US ambassador to the UN, stated the reasons why US rejected the proposal. “They were asking for everything up front, with a promise that they would then talk,” Waltz said. And in separate interview Mike Waltz said “a pretty cynical attempt to put something on the table that they knew was unacceptable.” he added “The president will leave all options on the table to ensure the world is safe from Iran holding the world hostage with a nuclear weapon.”

In response of the statements Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said “I am surprised that the ambassador is talking about a seven-day plan, as he has not read it, maybe he has not been given a copy.” And on Sunday, Abbas Araghchi said that the Iran is ready for an ‘doomsday’ war with US, but he’s keeping the door open for diplomatic talk, and don’t want to miss any chance of peace in his region. He said “If you ask us, there is no reason why we should go back to diplomacy, but I am still trying diplomacy because I think we shouldn’t miss any chance for peace,” continuing his statement. “We are ready to negotiate as much as we are ready to face any challenge...We stand firm in the face of any aggression against us, even if it comes to a doomsday war.”

On Friday, Araghchi suggested that if the Trump administration agrees to its demands, the Strait of Hormuz may be reopened and nuclear negotiations with the United States could begin again in seven days.
