Ahead of the October 10 protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where the group intends to seek CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over the SIR exercise, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das claimed that he, Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, and others might be arrested. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das has stated that the government is planning to get him and other leaders, including founder Abhijeet Dipke and Ashutosh Ranka, detained ahead of their massive October 10 rally at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. In protest over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the CJP has asked for Chief Election Commission Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

In a midnight tweet on Sunday, Das said that the government would be wrong to expect that such “dictatorial actions” could stop the planned protest. He stated “The government is planning on arresting me, Abhijeet, Ashutosh, Ratna and other leaders of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). If the government thinks that such dictatorial actions will work, then they are mistaken! The young generation has awakened. We appeal to everyone to continue fighting for our rights and future, with or without us. We have always been ready to face jail or worse. But this will be a big mistake. The young will not tolerate this. The protests must continue. People of India should ensure the biggest mobilizsation starting October 10."

After Saurav’s post the CJP founder also tweeted around midnight. “Kitno ko arrest karoge @AmitShah? 10 Oct ko poora desh aa raha hai (How many people will you arrest, Amit Shah? The whole country is coming on October 10).” He added “If the Govt. believes that the threat of UAPA, NSA or years behind bars will scare us into silence, it won’t. We’re prepared to face whatever comes our way and, if necessary, spend months or years in jail, but we will not back off from our fight to save democracy. We follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi, and we will continue to resist peacefully and non-violently, no matter how much the State tries to intimidate us.”

Days earlier, the CJP had protested at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, calling for Gyanesh Kumar's resignation due to suspected anomalies in the SIR process. The Shiv Sena (UBT) supported the protest.

The protest took place in the midst of a dispute over a media outlet’s claim that the two Election Commissioners had objected to the SIR's features fourteen times in the previous ten months. The Election Commission denied the report's allegations, stating that all decisions were made unanimously and that differing opinions and remarks were a typical part of talks.
