Raising the Bar: 6 Fibreglass ...Listed in no particular order.
Quality in the pool industry used to be hard to judge from the outside. Most fibreglass pools looked alike in a brochure, and buyers relied on a salesperson’s word. That has changed. Industry awards, manufacturing innovations and long-term warranties now give homeowners real evidence of who is doing the job well.
The builders and brands below have each earned their reputation in a different way, whether through awards, engineering firsts or a better buying experience. Together they show what the best of the fibreglass pool industry looks like in 2026.
Each company was chosen for at least one of the following: recognition through industry awards, genuine innovation in how fibreglass pools are made or installed, a strong installation record, and a clear commitment to standing behind its pools.
River Pools Virginia is the original installation business behind one of America’s best-known fibreglass pool names. It has been recognised among the Top 50 Pool Builders in America by Pool & Spa News and has installed more than 1,800 fibreglass pools. The business became famous for answering buyers’ questions openly online, an approach that changed how much of the industry talks to customers.
Best for: Virginia homeowners who want an experienced, education-led fibreglass installer.
Local Pools & Spas was founded in Smeaton Grange in 1998 by Justin and Renee Magro and describes itself as NSW’s most awarded fibreglass pool builder, with more than 60 industry awards. The family-owned business installs Compass pools with a patented Ceramic Core, optional Vantage self-cleaning and in-ground or above-ground options for families across Macarthur, Camden, Liverpool and the Sutherland Shire.
Best for: south-west and southern Sydney families who want an award-winning local builder.
Cornwall Pools is a family-run contractor in the south-west of England that was named UK Pool Contractor of the Year at the UK Pool & Spa Awards. With more than 25 years in the industry, it keeps its options broad, installing one-piece fibreglass pools alongside other construction types and recommending whichever solution suits each site best.
Best for: UK homeowners who want independent advice from an award-winning contractor.
The PoolHouse, previously known in New Zealand as Aqua Technics, has more than two decades of fibreglass experience and over 3,000 pools installed. Its display centre showcases 11 fully landscaped pools, so buyers can compare finished results side by side, and the company describes itself as the country’s largest seller of fibreglass pools.
Best for: New Zealand buyers who want to see finished pools in person before they choose.
Thursday Pools has built its reputation on patents. The Fortville, Indiana, manufacturer introduced the first beach-entry fibreglass pool designs and an anchoring system that allows pools to be drained safely without voiding the warranty. It now also manufactures the River Pools brand for independent dealers across the US and Canada.
Best for: North American buyers looking for innovative designs.
Starline has more than 50 years in the pool industry and over 20,000 completed projects. Its one-piece Monoblock composite pools are designed in the Netherlands and made at its own robotised factory in Belgium, with insulated walls, energy-saving covers and pre-assembled pipework fitted as standard.
Best for: European homeowners who want an insulated, energy-efficient one-piece pool.
The best pool builders do not ask buyers to take quality on trust. In 2026, they prove it, through awards, engineering and pools that still look good decades after they go in.
