Bond Vet – Strengthening the human animal bond through better pet care
The Silicon Review
Coming home to a devoted furry friend is the best feeling in the world. A pet’s unwavering affection can do more for you than just keep you company. Pets reduce stress, promote heart health, and even aid in the social and emotional development of humans. Although our cats and dogs are frequently the smallest members of the family, the amount spent on their food and care is a clear indication of their importance in our lives. Because much like humans, pets often show symptoms for which an ER visit is not necessary, but a primary care clinic may not be able to make time for.
This is when Bond Vet founders felt there should be a comforting, transparent, and thorough place for pet parents to get answers, quickly. To meet this needs, they opened in June 2019 in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, till date they’ve treated tens of thousands of cats and dogs. And the company has grown, they have expanded their services into those of a full-service veterinary clinic, offering their trademark urgent care, as well as routine care, like wellness exams, vaccines and spay/neuter, as well as surgeries, dental cleanings, and international health certificates. This range not only benefits their clients — who can almost always get a same-day appointment when needed — but also the medical team, for whom a broad case mix provides opportunities to learn, grow and practice at the top of their license. Diverse cases keep the team engaged and deepen their passion for veterinary medicine. And that’s what the company is all about — at their core, Bond is focused on the people. That might sound unexpected for a vet clinic, but it’s true.
Promoting Social Change and Animal Welfare through Their Services
Urgent Care: Similar to urgent care for people, Bond Vet is able to provide treatment that falls between routine exams and emergency care. Essentially, urgent care for pets is whenever you think to yourself, “I think something’s wrong — a vet should take a look at this ASAP.” If you sense your pet is experiencing discomfort, the firm would be happy to check things out. Most vets can’t accommodate same-day appointments or walk-ins, but they’re always available right when you need them.
Preventive Care: Adoption of a comprehensive approach to preventive care — one that extends beyond annual exams and vaccination — leads to longer, healthier lives for pets and their families. This responsibility belongs to every member of their veterinary care team who plays a role in delivering their comprehensive, patient-centered care, and is integral to every conversation they have with you, the pet parent. To keep your pet healthy and happy, it’s important they visit a vet for vaccines and routine physical examinations. The frequency of these visits depends largely on a few factors: breed, age, lifestyle, and any existing conditions. Puppies, for example, should be seen once a month, while a healthy adult dog may only need one check-up annually. Here at Bond Vet, their primary care guidelines represent the consensus opinion of veterinary experts and governing bodies including AAHA, AVMA, CAPC, the American Heartworm Association, and more.
Surgeries: Bond Vet knows surgeries can be stressful for pets and pet parents, but you can rest easy: their highly-skilled, caring vets and support team go above and beyond to ensure your pet is safe and comfortable throughout the process. They are proud to offer an extensive array of surgical procedures with the highly trained and caring teams of veterinarians and nurses across most Bond Vet locations.
Dental Care: It is known from human medicine that oral hygiene is incredibly important for overall wellbeing. It’s a key way to keep your cat or dog healthy. If a cat or dog could brush their own teeth, it’d prevent the need for frequent cleanings, but unfortunately they can’t. Additionally, while it’s recommended that pet parents provide dental care at home, as pet parents themselves, they know how hard this is to do regularly. It’s important to note that dental treats and water additives are helpful, but they don’t work hard enough to keep plaque and tartar off pet’s teeth or maintain healthy gums. For most pets, they recommend dental cleanings every 2-3 years. During dental cleanings, they remove tartar from the teeth and under the gum lines, which will prevent infection and bone loss. Keeping teeth clean and gums healthy is the best way to ensure your pet keeps those teeth forever. It also helps prevent other health issues, such as heart and kidney infections, down the road. Bond Vet is here to provide thorough, gentle dental care for your furry BFFs.
Spays and Neuters: As a pet parent, spaying or neutering your puppy or kitten is an important decision in their early life. They know having a surgery performed on your fur baby can be scary. But Bond Vet's team of highly trained veterinarians can perform this routine surgery using the best safety measures, in a warm, welcoming environment right here in NYC. Additionally, their vet will perform diagnostics and administer vaccinations. Depending on your pet, additional steps may be taken during these visits. For example, if you have a young pet discussions regarding spaying/neutering will occur. All of this information helps the vet determine the health of your pet. It also helps the vet catch problems early and can even prevent problems altogether.
