The present day economies are opening new doors for creating and developing successful business. However, in these tough economic times, focusing on the need to create more jobs and developing the skills to act on innovative business opportunities is crucial. CADD Centre is well aware of this necessity and strives towards fostering entrepreneurial skills that can propel people in establishing their own business.

CADD Centre was set up as an engineering service company that eventually turned into a training institution, after realizing the lack of manpower in engineering design. The company took Franchise route for expansion in the year 1995, and started overseas Franchise in 2002. In the early days, CADD Centre started CAD training as an authorized training center of Autodesk. Back then, Engineering industry was big in India and the start for the company was smooth. Though customers approached them with lots of excitement and hope, reaching out to each and everyone was a challenge. This is when the company set out to establish training facilities and started to provide ongoing support for engineers in major cities before venturing into franchise as an option for expansion.

In conversation with the man behind CADD Centre’s success, Mr. S. Karaiadiselvan

A good workplace stresses teamwork, at the same time encouraging individual achievement and creativity. Does your company follow the same?

The average employee turnover in our company is five years. We always focus on developing confidence and commitment in them for a sustained longevity in our organization. We train our employees to work for themselves, grow as a remarkable individual and to envision their future. This is how we define our corporate culture and outlook. We also make it a point to follow our chairman’s strategy which is “Pay for Performance – Promote for Ability”.

At CADD Centre, everything is automated and simplified in terms of process and functions. We have an Automated Human Resource process for employee’s convenience and uninterrupted organizational performance. We ensure that our employees can reach out to us for anything and everything without any difficulty whether it’s the policy or guidelines or tools. Through our efficient HR automated systems, we are always available to everyone without any hassle.

We also make sure that our employees  always get paid by the end of the month. Employees do have commitments and needs. If they are not able to fulfill it, it can cause a lot of internal pressure and confusion. We avoid that by paying them on time and without any delay. For the past 30 years, this organization has never delayed the pay for the employees.

We do believe that any organization cannot keep its employees happy only with its hi-tech infrastructure and good salary. There are other intrinsic factors, which can motivate an employee to a great extent. We as an organization, tap those small factors that can bring big difference in our employee’s lives.

Trust is a difficult attribute to measure and  requires consistent efforts to sustain. How do you maintain this with your employees?

CADD Centre focuses on employee satisfaction at the highest level and is well known for its employee care and concern. We don’t treat our workforce as mere employees. We treat them as a part of our CADD Centre family. This is the culture, that has been built by the top leaders of our organization and we follow it with utmost dedication and commitment. This is how we earn trust from our employees!

At CADD Centre, emphasis is given to actions, which matters the most. We, as an organization believe in the following principles -

  • Aligning our words and actions is the key pillar for building trust with employees.
  • Engaging and interacting with employees, at all point of time, will be the best way to earn their trust.

This kind of commitment will be possible only with everybody’s absolute dedication and diligent effort. We do coach our key leaders and professionals in exhibiting this attribute at every point of time.

Building a culture of sustainability inside an organization is very important to maintain reputation in the global market. How is it true with your company?

CADD Centre gives importance to culture at every aspect of its operation. People from all walks of life are involved in the organization and benefit from diverse opportunities throughout their stint. This is done through team meetings and annual meetings which give employees a chance to understand the organization, partners and others associated with this organization. We do conduct celebrations and CSR activities on a regular basis as a part of organizational and societal culture. Another key aspect of our organizational culture is our in-build Performance Management System which is aligned in terms of:

  • Setting Key Resource Area (KRA) at the time of joining
  • Informal team performance interviews
  • Skill and capabilities development
  • SWOT analysis of team, leader and self
  • Transparent scale revision slab

As a proof of our sustainable culture, we have stories of employees who joined as students and gradually made their way to top head profiles.

What were the challenges that you faced while focusing on skill development?

Language was a major challenge for us. A lot of employable rural and sub-urban engineering graduates had issues in communication. This took more time for us to skill them. In addition to that, students and the academicians took time to understand the difference between knowledge and skill. CADD Centre ran the campaign “College for Knowledge and CADD centre for skills” to overcome this barrier. Another major challenge we faced was skilling students from non-engineering background. So, we restructured courses like interior design, fashion design, jewelry design, animation and grafx, etc. to suit the needs of non-designing and engineering students.

To counterfeit the above challenges, we started to work closely with government skill development projects like NSDC and other projects that will help the students in developing their skills to a large extent.

CADD Centre works with more than 150 engineering colleges and universities as their training partner. On the other hand, we also conduct workshops like “Paradigm Shift” for onboarding students (to assess their dreams and aspirations) and “Campus to Corporates” for graduating students (for deciding their career path).

How good is CADD Centre in skill development?

CADD Centre is the best skill development training provider in designing. We have trained 1.5 million students and professionals in the last 30 years and 1,00,000 students year on year.

By working with many state/central government projects and skill development campaigns, we create awareness about various job opportunities available in various fields. Our fashion, interior and jewelry design programs focuses on women empowerment and skilling thousands of women to become employable or self-employed.

We also train students by giving them regional based reference guides in languages they are comfortable with. Besides that, we also provide free basic courses for the betterment of under-privileged students.

We are also an approved training partner of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) & Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME). Additionally, ASSOCHAM has recognized the Skill Development efforts of CADD Centre and has awarded a golden trophy to CADD Centre for the second time.
