In the highly connected world we live in, Simetric has emerged as a revolutionary force in the IoT landscape, offering a unified solution to the fragmented realm of connectivity management. Founded in 2017, Simetric’s inception was rooted in recognizing the critical gap within the IoT industry: the absence of robust support and expertise in cellular connectivity management. Existing platforms were shackled by proprietary structures, inhibiting effective management across diverse IoT instances and operators. One of the key principles of Simetric was its customer-centric approach, driving the development of a platform that could cater to businesses of all sizes and types. By 2019, their vision had expanded to encompass not only connectivity management but also device performance optimization. They strategically onboarded seasoned executives from tech giants, bolstering their thought leadership and positioning them at the nexus of cloud capabilities, network infrastructure, and operator efforts.

In a rapidly evolving landscape, marked by the impending dominance of 5G and the proliferation of autonomous technologies, Simetric's comprehensive platform became indispensable. It offered not just connectivity unification but also analytical insights, empowering businesses to evolve alongside technological advancements. As the global IoT market surged into billions of cellular connections, Simetric's adaptability and foresight positioned them as pioneers, poised to harness the transformative potential of 5G and drive the future of IoT innovation.

In conversation with Allen Boone, CEO of Simetric

Q. With the IoT industry evolving rapidly, how does Simetric continue to innovate and differentiate itself to meet the evolving needs of businesses, particularly in terms of scalability and flexibility?

Simetric continues to lead the industry and is continually innovating by collaborating and working with enterprises and partners across the globe. This is represented by having 250+ carrier platforms and over 1,000+ APIs that the platform supports. We are very pleased to also share that we have over 2,500 companies on the platform at the time of this publication. Our innovation is also driven by the thought leadership of our executive team, which is comprised of executives with a breadth of experience working with the likes of AT&T, Cisco, and Microsoft. We set our innovation culture for a customer- and partner-driven commitment built on accountability, trust, integrity, and measured execution. Customer input is still very much a driver and the catalyst for Simetric platform development. The difference for Simetric, however, is that input comes from direct customers and our tech partners, global carriers, system integrators, WAN networking companies, and leading software companies. This diverse set of companies across the IoT ecosystem either uses our platform directly or consumes it to enrich their IoT and edge solutions. For our customers or partners, an enriched, unified workflow is what we enable around the world.

Q. Simetric boasts purpose-built features for edge-first organizations. Could you elaborate on how your platform leverages edge computing to deliver real-time insights and drive operational efficiencies for your clients?

5G and AI are causing a lot of networking positions to be upgraded.  Network observability is spoken about by OEMs, but only Simetric can bring the whole of distributed networking across IoT and SD-WAN into a single management plane with a unified workflow. There is no need to swivel between edge vendor portals. With Simetric, IT organizations can now control their networking transformations by managing the correlation of IoT devices to their edge networking positions for full lifecycle management across their devices and carrier positions.

Q. Can you share some notable examples of how Simetric has helped companies achieve speed-to-value, improve operations, exercise real-time cost control, and generate predictable revenue?

Predictable, controllable revenue is integral to any business. That gets tough, though, when you have hundreds of thousands to millions of IoT devices to manage. Simetric is the key to helping enterprises of all sizes, regardless of geography or number of carriers, optimize workloads for their customer service and operations teams, as two examples, to assure more predictable revenue. With the ability to stack business rules to automatically monitor, activate, and deactivate devices in real-time, CallPass, a long-time Simetric customer as an example, was able to ensure that services were provided to paying customers and functional devices—not costly rogue devices or non-paying customers. The result? Immediate time to value results in 30%+ cost savings, a happier device management team, and an easily governed IoT device ecosystem to aid in revenue growth and customer retention.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

Simetric is looking towards services that are aligned with what we are now seeing take hold in the market. The promise of eSIM is finally starting to resonate, but the issue is the same as with connectivity management and fragmented platforms. So, we are looking at a unified RSP management plan. The ability to have a robust way to bill end customers for usage and device actions requires a new way to create invoices, so we have a rating and mediation engine that has been launched and is rapidly being adopted by enterprises and partners (MNOs, MVNOs, etc.) alike. Finally, customers want control and security around data transmissions, so you will see us integrating a programmable virtual network to put that control in the customer's hands.

Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

IoT and edge positions are poised to grow considerably in the coming years. We started Simetric to bring unified control to IoT and edge networking that would benefit enterprises and network operators alike in managing such dramatic evolution. IoT stands to be a growth opportunity akin to mobile phones for MNOs, and the market will see them partnering with Simetric to recognize those market opportunities. Simetric also set out on our journey, recognizing that, alone, we could not drive the full expanse of IT control that was needed to enable broad digital transformations and therefore wanted our platform to be a further enrichment of other software solutions to a fragmented hardware landscape. There is no more meaningful company than ServiceNow in the digital transformation landscape. Simetric is honored to say we have partnered with ServiceNow to integrate our platform with the NOW platform, bringing enrichment to existing uses as well as a market-defining ability to unify workflow control across OT and IoT.

In addition to continually adding more platforms, APIs, and customers, the market will learn of new, strategic partnerships with industry-leading companies at the time of this publication and in the months following.
