What was the reason behind the genesis of K2 Analytics Inc.?

I started KCS Brands with the intention of helping businesses build a strong online presence. It was a boutique operation — we provided a one-stop-shop for all of our clients when it came to digital marketing. We had aspirations to grow and in 2015 we did just that. That year, we rebranded KCS Brands into K2 Analytics Inc. and became a Certified Google Ad Partner. Today, our agency manages hundreds of projects annually and we have a wide array of clients in just about every industry from locally owned businesses to nation-wide brands.

A well-defined mission and vision statement is the most important phenomenon for any business. Can you explain your M&V statements in brief?

The main vision and mission of K2 Analytics is that we meet our clients’ expectations and exceed their business goals in all environments and at any time, which they require in return to reach their customers. We offer unique and creative digital marketing and advertising solutions to maximize the visibility of our clients online.

What would you say are the top three skills required to be a successful business leader?

I believe that in order to become a successful business owner you must:

  • Have a desire to keep learning about your industry so that you can always stay one step ahead of the curve when it comes to advancements in technology and best practices.
  • Have realistic and reasonable expectations for yourself and for your team so that you always allow your business to grow healthily and sustainably.
  • And most importantly, if you want to be successful, you must be passionate about what you do. I love the cliché, “Love what you do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” It’s a saying that characterizes the success of K2 Analytics. We love what we do.

What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them?

The initial hurdle when building K2 Analytics Inc. was finding the financial security and stability that you need to have in order to feel confident taking risks that lead to the growth of the business. We found a great strategic partner who was ableto help us over that initial hurdle.

Once we were able to find the financial stability to expand, the next challenge was putting together the right team to help K2 Analytics grow into the agency that it is today. You have to trust that your team can deliver results and they have done just that.

What do you think is the most memorable moment in your career?

The most memorable moment in my career is the first time that we took on a very large client, and we were able to out do every agency that they had worked with before us. We were able to deliver results where others had failed. Where other digital marketing companies were hitting a wall and plateauing, we were able to implement a strategy that tripled revenue for that client in a short period of time.

What other leaders do you look up to, and why?

I look up to Steve Jobs because he was an industry leader who was very humble. There’s something to be said about wearing plain jeans and a black turtle-neck. Yet, he was able to take his company to the top leaving behind a legacy that will continue to influence the ways that technology will advance.

I also look up to Carroll Shelby. Again, another leader who came from humble beginnings and through his accomplishments has become one of the most recognizable names in the automotive world. I admire leaders who came into great success without losing themselves in the process.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

If you are just starting out, stay true to yourself and always judge yourself honestly.

What are your future focus areas?

Our primary focus is on expanding the company, both in size and in the scope of services that we offer. There are a lot of advances being made in the world to digital marketing and in tech as a whole, and we hope to capitalize on those and hopefully become pioneers.
