Facebook Introduces New Features to Unite US Users to Elected Officials
The Silicon Review
09 June, 2017

The social networking giant Facebook recently announced a set of three new features. The all new features are planned to enhance civic engagement among users in the United States on its platform by linking them more effortlessly with their elected representatives.

The all new move by the social media juggernaut required restoring its picture as a believable source of information following a wave of criticism that the giant received after last November's presidential election that the company did too little to battle deceptive or entirely made-up political news stories during the campaign.

Facebook will now let its users to turn on "Constituent Badges" feature to recognize them as living in their elected officials' district. The opt-in button will be noticeable when a user will comment on the content made public by their federal, state and local representatives.

Newly introduced "Constituent Insights," allows elected officials and other users to discover local news stories that are popular in their district. While "District Targeting" on the other hand generates a new set viewers selection that lets politicians' pages aim posts to people likely to be their constituents.

Well that’s not all; despite of making certain changes done in recent months that help users consume more legitimate political news, the giant Facebook continued to face criticism from famous Democrats and some technology experts.

Last year, Hillary Clinton, who stood for president as a Democrat but lost to President Donald Trump, a Republican, said that Facebook was loaded with fake information about her throughout the movement and the citizens were reasonably received the wrong impression about. She said she wanted Facebook to curate its network more insistently.
