Apple's New MacBook Is Now Equipped With the T2 Security
The Silicon Review

When it comes to launching new products, Apple never fails to surprise its users. Recently at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Apple has introduced an all-new feature for the MacBook. The MacBook will now be available with thenew T2 security chip that disconnects the microphone from the laptop every time the lid is closed. This makes it far more difficult for hackers and malicious applications from eavesdropping on conversations (to some extent).

"The disconnect is implemented in hardware alone, and therefore it prevents any software, even with root or kernel privileges in macOS, and even the software on the T2 chip, from engaging the microphone when the lid is closed," Apple explained in isits securityguide.

Apple has also mentioned that the security featurewon't disconnect the camera because when the lid will be closed there won't be any field of view.

The tech giant has made the announcement publicwhen its new Retina MacBook Air was launched. However, the security chip was already equipped with the 2018 MacBook Pro models launched earlier this year.

Talking about security, MacBooks have always been considered as malware-proof. But last year, Patrick Wardle, a security researcher found a malware on a MacBook which could tap into MacBook’s webcam. So keeping that in mind, the company has taken a serious step to prevent hackers from compromising MacBooks.
