A research team member from the New-Zealand -based Robotic startup, Boxfish Research will visit Antarctica to carry out research work on Whales. The journey will comprise of- the company’sCo-founder, Ben King along with Dr. Regina Eisert, a mammalian physiologistand few members from the University of Canterbury.

The goal of the expedition is to study and capture footage, specifically of two Whale species, i.e. Minke and Orca. Mr.Ben will be carrying special equipment like Boxfish ROV and Boxfish 360 underwater vision systems. These systems are exclusively created to control the harshest conditions across the planet.

Boxfish ROV will allow the team to record uncompressed UHD video. The videos will be live streamed back to the surface on a 17’’ monitor. Since divers can’t reach underneath the ice, this hi-tech system has paved the way for the team to capture quality footage from depths and angles.

With the Boxfish 360 camera, the team can take record immersive VR video content underneath the edge of the ice.

The company is growing and looks forward to grab new opportunities to participate in and facilitate this massive research expedition. The latest expedition has helped the company toincrease their spectators and show their equipment has got what it takes.

According to the company, the team is hoping to record 360 immersive videos with the 360 camera which will be inserted underneath the ice surface with a rope. The team will use an ultra HD a stable Boxfish ROV to capture Whales from several hundred metres underneath the ocean.
